A Speaker wire is used to make the electrical connection between a loudspeaker and an audio amplifier. It is a passive electrical component with varying degrees of capacitance, resistance and inductance. These three properties determine how each individual speaker wire works, while resistance is the most imperative property.
A Speaker wire has two or more conductors within it, but the universal material used is copper, due to it is low resistance and low cost. The wire is typically encased by some variation of plastic for example PVC, PE or Teflon. The two wires in the cable’s construction are electrically identical; they are marked solely to distinguish between audio signal polarities.
The quality of the speaker wire impacts the performance of the home theater system. A poor quality speaker wire will produce substandard sound even in the most sophisticated theater system.
